Oh the beauty of the Old, the context laid The plot thickened, Creator God betrayed. Over and over, First Adam and Eve Then Israel, Person and Nation deceived By other gods, By creation itself By surrounding land, people, prosperity, and wealth. Warned, disciplined, repentant, then saved Over and over in generational decay. But the beauty of the Old is the promise of the New Because when I read these ancient words, I see You. You are the needed Judge, the Prophet, Priest, and King Mountain Ram, Passover Lamb, and perfect offering - Your divine blood, tested and tried, Your human body beaten, hung, and crucified. As I read your whole testament stained with blood I see and feel the cost of an intervening love. When I read your words, I see resurrected hope for me For salvation from my sin and redeemed suffering. When I am surrounded by death, pain, grief, and loss, With mud-opened eyes, I read your words and see the cross.
I’ve been listening through the Bible with my church family, and it’s been such a gift. I can’t get over how God tells one beautiful, cohesive story across generations and through so many human voices. The more I’m in Scripture, the more I’m astounded by the richness and beauty of it all.
As we approach Good Friday and Easter, I feel such wonder and joy at what God has done through the person of Jesus—the prophecies fulfilled, the great problem solved.
I’ve loved experiencing Scripture through different creative lenses lately. Listening on @dwellbible and following along with @thebiblerecap has been unbelievably helpful. Our family watched @kingofkingsanimation in theaters this week and I was so impressed. We’ve also been enjoying the first few episodes of House of David on Prime.
As I watch and listen, I’m in awe of how God reveals Himself through words, patterns, symbols, and stories we can understand. I can’t believe the layers of connection woven throughout the Bible.

What’s caused you to wonder lately in the story of Scripture?
I also love the Old Testament. Jesus is present on every page, with love woven through each intentional word. Abba is great; He is beautiful, and I am grateful. Wonderful post!
Beautiful poem!!! 😍
The Old Testament is alive and important for all Bible readers! Yahushua (Jesus) and the apostles taught so much from the Torah, the prophets, and the wisdom books. Yahushua said He came not to do away with the Torah and the prophets but to fulfil them!
You need the old to understand the message of the new!
